The Pinnacle Prize is awarded to visionary Kansas Citians 40 years of age and under who display passion for improving the lives in our community, especially among the socio-economically disadvantaged.

Two winners are selected each year by the Baum family and their advisors from a diverse and broad group of candidates nominated by community leaders familiar with those making a difference in the community.

The Pinnacle Prize does not have an open application or nomination process. Candidates are chosen by the Baum family with input from trusted leaders and influencers within the community.

Winners of The Pinnacle Prize receive a no-strings-attached $100,000 award. How the winners choose to use this money is entirely up to them. The goal of the prize is to change the trajectory of a life that can change the trajectory of our Kansas City community.

The Pinnacle Prize is founded by Kenneth and Ann Baum, two generous lifelong Kansas Citians with a long history of supporting entrepreneurship, the arts, education and environmental causes in their hometown.

As native Kansas Citians, the Baum family wish to show their appreciation for the opportunities Kansas City has provided them, and wish to help our city fullfill its full potential. The Pinnacle Prize was created in the spirit of helping us achieve a healthier, more vibrant and equitable place to live for all who call our city home.
