“My work is not transactional, it’s transformational. I analyze complex dynamics of manipulation and abuse, navigate difficult environments, and build trust to support those who are most vulnerable.”
2025 BIOGRAPHY
Nick Allen is leading the charge in coordinating street outreach to individuals experiencing housing instability in the Kansas City area. Through a progressive and strategic outreach framework for encampment safety evaluation and processing, he’s building trust with this vulnerable population to break down barriers and help them obtain housing. By strengthening community involvement and fostering genuine human connection, Nick is also changing the narrative around how the community engages with and supports people experiencing homelessness.
He currently serves as the first ever Street Outreach Coordinator for the City of Kansas City, Missouri’s Office of Unhoused Solutions, where he leads a network of more than 30 community organizations to build meaningful connections with residents experiencing homelessness, assess encampments citywide, and offer support through encampment engagement processes.
As a young adult, Nick faced significant challenges with addiction and the justice system that shaped his perspective and deepened his commitment to service. His early experiences navigating instability gave him firsthand insight into the barriers many Kansas Citians face.
He began his career when he secured his first role in outreach at SAVE Inc. as an outreach specialist. With his personal lived experiences combined with his education in public administration, he discovered his unique set of skills and talent for outreach coordination and strategic outreach planning. He later continued this work as an outreach case manager with Cross-Lines Community Outreach in Kansas City, Kansas. In 2023, he joined the newly created Office of Unhoused Solutions with the City of Kansas City, Missouri.
Nick manages cross-agency collaboration throughout the region to build a unified approach to outreach and support. His team prioritizes strategic, targeted, and progressive relationship-building to better address root causes of homelessness, including addiction, severe and persistent mental health conditions, systemic barriers and poverty.
